Come join your Friends, as we gather to enjoy a day out at the former Ballarat RAAF Base and celebrate its unique history and place within in the Australian Military Aviation landscape.
Ticket Information
Tickets: $20.00 per person. Payment MUST be received in full by 20th July, 2023. Those who have not paid by the due date will have their event registration cancelled.
The ticket price covers sessions 1-3, including entry to both museums and lunch. Only those who wish to attend the dinner are required to register for Session 4.
Cost for dinner is not included in the ticket price.
Attendance Information
Friends are welcome to bring up to 3 guests. Each attendee must be registered and have their own ticket to the event day.
Session Information
This social event is structured into 4 sessions. In between sessions, Friends are encouraged to check out the site's 45 historical buildings that remain from the WW2 era.
Session 1 | Friends Of The Anson Air Museum 11:00am - 12:30pm
We commence the first of our tours at 11:00am with a visit to the Friends of the Anson Air Museum where Friends can tour and visit.
Session 2 | Lunch - 1:00pm - 2:30pm
Lunch will be located in the former officer's mess building, a historic building in its own right and with fascinating photos and artifacts adorning its walls.
Over lunch, we will hear from our speaker Peter Dowling, President of the Ballarat Air Force Association who will present on the history of 1WAGS (Wireless Air Gunnery School).
Session 3 | Ballarat Aviation Museum 3:00pm - 4:30pm
After lunch, the second tour of the day commences at the Ballarat Aviation Museum where Friends can view its numerous historical aircraft and artifacts.
This concludes the formal sessions of the day.
Session 4 | Dinner 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Not included in the ticket price.
Friends who don't need to go home so quickly, or who wish to make a weekend of it are invited to meet for dinner at 5:30pm (for a 6pm start) at Lakeview Hotel, Wendouree
